Indian men's cricket team spin great Ravichandran Ashwin made some interesting observations after the Harmanpreet-led Indian women's team scripted history on Sunday by lifting the World Cup. After two heartbreaking losses in finals - in 2005 and 2017 - the Indian women's team defied all odds to beat South Africa by 52 runs in the 2025 edition title clash in Navi Mumbai. Indian women's cricket greats Mithali RajJhulan Goswami, and Anjum Chopra were present at the DY Patil Stadium when history unfolded. In fact, during India's victory parade inside the stadium after the match, Harmanpreet and Co. handed the trophy to Mithali and Jhulan, and they turned emotional.

After Team India's win, a gesture of love and admiration for Smriti Mandhana broke the internet.

Shared by her boyfriend and musician Palash Muchhal, he clicked a picture holding the World Cup trophy. Fans were quick to notice that he had tattooed the initials SM (Smriti Mandhana) and her jersey number 18 on his hand.

“I don't know how do I react to that. It is still sinking in. As you said, I haven't been emotional on a cricket field. But yeah, I mean, this is a very unreal moment. Home World Cup and yeah, I mean, to be the champion in India, I mean, I just can't. I'm still not able to process it,” Mandhana had said after the match.

Former Indian cricket team batter Sadagoppan Ramesh slammed the team management for tinkering with the batting line-up in the second T20I match against Australia. Skipper Suryakumar Yadav demoted himself to No. 4 with Sanju Samson coming to bat at No. 3 while Harshit Rana was sent out to bat ahead of Shivam Dube. This also meant that Tilak Varma came out to bat at No. 5. India were all out for 125 and Australia went on to clinch the match by 4 wickets. Shreyas Iyer Discharged From Hospital In Sydney. BCCI Provides Massive Injury Update

 

Indian cricket team batter Shreyas Iyer was discharged from the hospital in Sydney as he continues to recover from the injury sustained during the third ODI against Australia. Shreyas sustained a blunt injury to his abdomen resulting in a laceration of his spleen with internal bleeding while taking a catch during the encounter at the Sydney Cricket Ground. He was taken to the hospital where his injury was identified and the doctors were able to stop the bleeding following a minor procedure, according to the BCCI. The BCCI added that the cricketer is now stable and the BCCI medical team was happy with his recovery.
